The crowd-favorite “Xiang Gao & Friends” concert returns! Join us for another unforgettable performance featuring a group of exceptional classical musicians invited by Master Players Founding Director Xiang (Sean) Gao to celebrate the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, widely regarded as the greatest musical genius of all time.
Gao, international violinist and University of Delaware Trustees Distinguished Professor of Music, founded Master Players in 2003 with the goal of bringing a rich and wide array of world-class musicians to the UD campus and to underserved local communities. Over the past 19 years, many acclaimed artists have graced the Master Players stage, and the series has grown to serve as a cultural ambassador for the University of Delaware.
This event will include the Delaware debuts of cellist Youngeun Lee, the latest gold medalist of the 2023 Tchaikovsky International Competition; Nancy Ambrose King, Professor of Oboe at the University of Michigan; and award-winning pianist and composer Charles Berofsky, whose 2020 Master Players live performance was canceled due to the pandemic. Also joining Xiang Gao is Elias Goldstein, UD Professor of Viola and newly appointed Principal Violist of the renowned ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. The concert will be hosted by Maria Purciello, UD Associate Professor of Music History & Literature.
