Original event description: Master Players Director Xiang Gao will have an in-depth conversation with a distinguished family of musicians. Each member holds an impressive pedigree of their own. Currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the internationally acclaimed concert violinists Aaron Berofsky and Kathryn Votapek are known for their active dedication and contributions to solo performing, chamber music, and education. Their two sons, Charles and Sebastian, are carving their own paths as highly accomplished student musicians. This event will focus on the culture of a music-making family and the challenges of raising musically talented children as professional musician parents. Kathryn will also speak about how the family's musical tradition started with her father Ralph Votapek, first prize winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The heart-warming stories of growing up in a family of classical musicians, as well as the presentation of some rare music videos and audio clips, will allow the audience to dive into the world of the Berofsky family.
