String, woodwind, brass, percussion, and piano players will strengthen their skills through private lessons, chamber music coaching, orchestral activities, competitions, masterclasses, workshops, lectures and discussions conducted by top orchestral, solo musicians and pedagogues.
Lesson: Each student will receive multiple individual lessons with different faculty members
Chamber Music: Each student will be assigned to a chamber group with traditional or cross over repertoires. Some groups will play with faculty members. Multiple coachings with different faculty members will lead to performing on public chamber concerts.
Orchestra: Each orchestra instrumental student is required to play in the Festival Symphony Orchestra with challenging repertoire. Multiple orchestral rehearsals and sectionals led by faculty will lead to the final concert.
Competition: MPF offers two competitions: Solo Competition and Concerto Competition. Students are encouraged to participate but not required. The Concerto Competition repertoire is fixed. Top winners will be the featured soloists with the Festival Symphony Orchestra at the final concert. The repertoire for the Solo Competition is your choice but with a time limit. Top winners will be presented on the Student Solo Concert with staff and faculty pianists.
Master Class: Daily Master Classes will be held by our faculty members or visiting artists.
Workshop: Various workshops will take place with different instruments, such as the Paul Kantor Violin Workshop, Kolker Moncilovich Bassoon Academy, Haixin Wu Violin Orchestral Excerpts Workshop, Satoshi Okamoto Bass Orchestral Excerpts Workshop. Studio Recitals and Mock Auditions will be presented.
Lecture: Lectures on many different topics will be presented.
Discussion: Round table and informal lunch discussion will take place between faculty and students on topics which students are most interested in.
