For participants 14 and older.
Solo competition has four divisions: brass, woodwinds, strings, and piano. Each division will have up to 6 prize winners. One could enter with a solo piece composed for his/her instrument with or without accompaniment between 4 and 8 minutes. The competition will be held during the first 2-3 days of MPF and one would compete without piano accompaniment. Memorization is strongly recommended.
If you would like to enter the solo competition, please email us your name, your instrument, the title and movement title of your piece, the complete spelling of the composer, the duration of the movement, and a scanned PDF score of your accompaniment if the composition was written with a piano accompaniment at masterplayers@udel.edu by May 30th. No exceptions.
Any MPF participant can participate in both the concerto and solo competitions.
The top 3 winners of each division will solo perform on the MPF winners’ concert with MPF pianists if an accompaniment is required. Also, the performing winners will get a professional video, a winner’s certificate as well as music scholarships to attend the University of Delaware (pending admissions) and MPF in the following year.
NOTE: Past first prize winners of this competition cannot participate the competition again.
All the other prize-winners will receive a winner’s certificate as well as music scholarships to attend the University of Delaware (pending admissions) and MPF in the following year.
All the participants will receive a participation certificate.
