Original event description: Master Players director Xiang Gao will have an in-depth conversation with trumpeter Kevin Cobb and bass trombonist John Rojak, members of the iconic American Brass Quintet (ABQ). The ABQ is the faculty ensemble at the Juilliard School and has released more than 50 recordings and toured 5 continents in the past 60 years. They will share their individual careers as soloists, the history of ABQ as a leading brass ensemble promoting chamber music repertoire for brass instruments worldwide, and the challenges and rewards of being in a chamber music group that is no different from a string quartet or piano trio. Their teaching careers at Juilliard School and the Aspen Music Festival will also be a highlight of this “backstage” conversation.
