The 4th annual Master Players International Music Festival & School (MPF) is held on the campus of the University of Delaware, conveniently located between (near) the Greater Philadelphia and Greater Baltimore areas.
An intensive 12-day international festival, MPF’s inaugural Voice and Collaborative Piano Program offers world-class recitals (concerts), competitions, and exceptional interdisciplinary training to singers (ages 18 and up) and pianists (ages 14 and up).
Collaborative music-making is a holistic experience, and young musicians will work closely with celebrated voice pedagogues and vocal coaches on every aspect of this powerful experience. The culminating project will be a program of American art song. Participants will also be able to network with professors from many leading institutions.
The schedule will include:
-two private lessons
-courses in voice literature (art song and opera)
-English diction classes for international students
-workshops on poetry, physical expressiveness, and singer-pianist collaborative skills
-sessions on audition techniques and professional development (career-building, international networking opportunities)
interest sessions (vocal chamber music, Chinese art song, voice
pedagogy, recitative, Alexander Technique, and Chinese Qi Gong breathing
and body strengthening exercises)
Young pianists will hone skills in the art of voice-piano collaboration to increase their musicianship and professional opportunities. They will also gain exposure to new repertoire, voice-specific performance techniques, and aesthetic considerations.
Selected singers and pianists will perform in the American art song program and other public recital and master classes. Pianists may participate in the instrumental solo and chamber music competitions in addition to the voice program.
